Emir Kusturica is currently in the region of Trebinje (Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina) to shoot a 10 minutes short film on orthodox religion. For this film, Emir Kusturica will be the only actor, playing a monk. According to Novosti, we will see him how, when he finishes the regular activities in the monastery, backpacks two large bags with rocks and ritually climbs the hill, dragging along the way, and stones fall out and he suffers and barely go, and when he reaches the top of the hill, he cries, and unload stones, then turn back. This film is part of a wider project, aiming at describing the seven big religions of the world. For the shooting, Emir Kusturica will go to Uvjeći and to the monastery of Tvrdoš. The shooting should be completed next week (7 octobre). Furthermore, Emir Kusturica seems to love the region since he indicated that he will in Uvjeće village, where all the houses are stone, do something like Project Kamengrad in Visegrad. Let's also mention the recent death of Otakar Vávra at the age of 100, on 15th september. He was one of the greatest czech directors, and co-founder of the FAMU, the prestigious cinema school of Prague. Beside Emir Kusturica, he had as pupil Milos Forman and Jiri Menzel. Otakar Vávra was one of the guests of the latest Küstendorf festival.

On 9 september was released in Italy a new book on Emir Kusturica, written by Giorgio Bertellini, who is Associate Professor on Screen Arts and Cultures for Romance Languages and Literatures at University of Michigan.
