• On 14th of July (French national holiday), Emir Kusturica was raised Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur (Knight of the Legion of Honour).
• On 15th July, Emir Kusturica and the No Smoking Orchestra played for the first time in the USA, in New York. As usual, the concert started with the Russian anthem ; Nele reports : ”Seventy percent of the audience stood up while the rest of was completely shocked. However, seconds later they all were standing. Apart from Americans, in the audience there were people from Russia, Poland, Japan, Bulgaria, Germany, France, Mexico…” He greeted all of those nationalities in their mother tongues. • On 20th July, took place in Küstendorf a conference on sustainable development in Serbia ; Emir Kusturica announced he wanted to build a small hydroelectric powerplant near Mokra Gora in order to help contuining the extension of his village This conference marked the 110 years of the powerplant built on the Djetinja, according to the principles established by Nikola Tesla, the famous Serbian scientist. It was the first hydroelectric powerplant in Europe, and it's still in activity. (source : isria.com)
• The Opera "Time of the Gypsies" will be re-launched : the first of a new tour is scheduled on 5th november in Belgrade (Sava Center). Then, the group will play in Greece and Russia. (source : blic.rs)
