• After 5 years of cinematographic silence and many aborted projects, Emir Kusturica has finally launched today the shooting of a new film ! Previously known as “Love and War”, the film is now called “Along the Milky Way” (Na mlečnom putu); it is a film based on his short film Our Life and the script was co-wrote by Emir and his daughter Dunja. The shooting started today in mounts Tara (Масив планине Таре), in West Serbia, long the border with Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Mounts Tara are famous for their medieval ruins the ones of old Medieval city Solotnik. On Wednesday, the shooting will continue in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the region of Trebinje, and end of june, Italian actress Monica Bellucci will join the crew. Let us also mention Sloboda Mićalović, a young Serbian actress who acted in various popular TV films in Balkans. The lead role will be played by Emir Kusturica who will be a hard-luck man who, after the death of his wife, decides to become a monk.
• Hundred of troubles : Emir has recently published in Serbia a book of short stories. During a press conference on 24 April, Emir Kusturica has declared : “I'm not supposed to be an artist. I think I'm worth less than that”, in front of an acquired audience. He also explained that the stories in this book were fights against present time and that they occurred in the last decade of the XXth century. “This book took life by itself, and I tried to drive through my models, my characters. A little computer helped me to sort out all these images from the time of Tito and his country,” he added.
