This film is a remake of Jean-Pierre Melville's Bob le flambeur, from 1955. Bob Montagnet doesn't have chance anymore. For this ancient art thief, life is just a succession of smoky nights around loosy gambling tables. When he looses his last money at the races, Bob reaches the end. His old friend Raoul proposes then to make up a big deal. As an ultimate life reflex, Bob imagines a fantastic breakthrough, an exceptionnal trick that relieves not on one, but on two robberies…. With Roger, the cop who doesn't leave him, he sets up a shock team to prepare his biggest coup…
