Quelques semaines après sa sortie, la bande originale a été retirée des ventes. En effet, une plainte a été déposée par le groupe corse Régina et Bruno Baccara qui reprochait à Goran Bregović d'avoir réutilisé le thème de leur chanson Solenzara dans le morceau in the deathcar. Refusant de créditer le groupe, le CD fut longtemps introuvable, devant une rareté. Le conflit s'est finalement résolu en 2002 avec l'ajout d'une ligne de crédit supplémentaire sur la pochette du CD, ainsi qu'une chanson bonus : American Dreamers Old Home Movie (par Johnny Depp).

A noter :

• la présence exceptionnelle d'Iggy Pop sur quatre titres (In the deathcar, TV screen, Get the money, This is a film). Grâce à la complicité que Johnny Depp entretenait déjà avec l'iguane, Emir Kusturica a pu faire sa connaissance aux Etats-Unis, et l'a convaincu de participer à son film.
• C'est Emir Kusturica qui a écrit les paroles du morceau this is a film.
